What is laser cutting and how is it done?
Laser cutting uses a high-powered laser controlled by optics and computer numerical control (CNC) to direct the radiation through the material. Laser cutting can be used to process many materials, from wood, metal, plywood, aluminum, etc. Typically, the laser cutting process uses a motion control system that follows the CNC or G-code pattern to be cut on the material. The focused laser beam burns, melts, vaporizes, or explodes upon contact with the gas stream, resulting in a high-quality surface with a finished edge.
Laser radiation is produced by stimulating the materials to be laser cut using electric discharges or lamps in a sealed container.

What is the difference between sheet metal and pipe and profile laser cutters?
The first thing that differentiates tube laser cutting from sheet metal laser cutting is that when tube is machined, the material moves throughout the process in the opposite of what (usually) happens with sheet metal. After loading and moving to the cutting area, the pipe is moved back and forth during operation, it is rotated at high speed and with different accelerations.
Another difference between tube lasers and sheet metal lasers is the huge number of different shapes, sections and profiles that can be processed (the variety of processed materials and material thicknesses is quite similar to sheet processing equipment).
The various components to be machined range from round, square or rectangular tubes that could be machined on previous systems to more complex components with variable thicknesses and open concave profiles.
